About DARKFIELD
DARKFIELD creates immersive audio experiences inside custom-built shipping containers. Using binaural sound, complete darkness and meticulously designed environments, DARKFIELD places audiences at the center of intense, atmospheric stories. After successful seasons around the world, DARKFIELD is coming to AREA15 in Las Vegas for an extended run.
About Realscape
Realscape Productions produces, tours and operates multisensory experiences: work you step inside rather than watch from a seat. Since 2017, we've put audiences inside the work in shipping containers, the backs of 40-foot trucks, festival sites and theaters across Australia, the US, Canada and New Zealand, handling everything that gets a show in front of an audience: production, touring, operations and marketing.
About the role
We're looking for a General Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of DARKFIELD at AREA15. This is the senior on-site role: you will lead the venue team, manage daily operations, protect the guest experience, and make sure every show runs safely, smoothly and consistently.
You will manage the Experience Duty Managers and Experience Guides, set the operational standard, and act as the key on-site contact for Realscape's producers, AREA15 teams, contractors and suppliers. You will be responsible for the rhythm of the site: staffing, guest flow, show timing, safety, reporting, issue resolution and team culture.
This is a leadership, guest-experience and operations role, not a technical production role. Full training is provided on our show systems, and what matters most is how you lead people, solve problems and look after guests.
This role suits someone from live events, attractions, immersive experiences, theater, hospitality, entertainment venues or high-volume guest environments. You are calm under pressure, highly organized, commercially aware, and confident leading a team in a fast-moving public-facing environment.
A day in the life
You open the site and set the team up for the day, walk the containers and queue before doors, and make sure the Duty Managers are ready to run the sessions. Through the day, you keep a light hand on the floor while staying close to anything that needs your attention: a guest issue, a staffing change, a venue conversation, a schedule adjustment, an incident report or a show-standard check.
At the end of the day, you close the loop with your team, review the reports, make sure the site is ready for the next operating day, and leave knowing that every show ran safely, smoothly and to standard.
What you'll do
- Lead the day-to-day operation of DARKFIELD at AREA15.
- Manage, coach and support the Experience Duty Managers and Experience Guides.
- Recruit, onboard, train and performance-manage the on-site team in partnership with Realscape's producers.
- Own daily staffing, schedules, shift standards, break coverage and timesheet approval.
- Set and maintain a high standard of guest experience across queues, timed-entry sessions, briefings, late arrivals, access needs and guest issues.
- Make sure the site is prepared, staffed, clean, safe and ready every operating day.
- Keep sessions running on time and maintain the operational rhythm of the site.
- Oversee daily checks of guest areas, containers, signage, equipment, headphones, lighting and show-readiness.
- Support Duty Managers with technical or operational escalations, coordinating quick resolution where needed.
- Uphold health and safety, emergency procedures, incident reporting, blackout procedures and AREA15 venue compliance.
- Lead incident follow-up, guest complaints and on-site decision-making within agreed policy.
- Act as the key on-site contact for Realscape's producers, AREA15 teams, contractors and suppliers.
- Support ticketing and attendance oversight, daily operational reporting, expenses and site administration.
- Maintain operating documents, checklists, training records and daily reports.
- Help lead load-in, staff training, operational testing and end-of-run close-down.
- Build a positive, inclusive and accountable team culture.
- Carry out other duties as reasonably required to run the site.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience managing a team in attractions, live events, immersive experiences, theater, festivals, hospitality, entertainment venues or high-volume guest-facing operations.
- A confident, hands-on leader who can make calm decisions under pressure.
- Strong organization, communication and guest-experience instincts.
- Experience managing schedules, shift teams, daily operations and service standards.
- Comfortable handling guest issues, team issues and operational problems with professionalism and care.
- Able to work confidently with producers, venue teams, contractors, suppliers and frontline staff.
- Comfortable using ticketing/POS systems, scheduling tools, tablets and operational reporting systems.
- Health and safety awareness, including incident management and emergency procedures.
- A practical mindset and willingness to learn DARKFIELD's show systems. Full training is provided.
Nice to have
- Experience opening or launching a temporary venue, attraction, pop-up, event site or seasonal operation.
- Familiarity with show systems, AV equipment or basic technical troubleshooting.
- First aid, fire warden or health and safety training.
- Experience working with venue partners, landlords or multi-stakeholder sites.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
Eligibility
- You must be 18 or over and eligible to work in the United States, including completion of Form I-9.
- Offers are subject to a background check.
Physical and environmental requirements
This role requires the ability to move around the site for extended periods; stand and walk during operating shifts; work outdoors in Las Vegas weather conditions, including extreme desert heat, direct sun and UV, high winds and seasonal monsoon weather; work in low light or darkness and in enclosed or crowded spaces; and tolerate theatrical effects including flashing lights, and loud or sudden sound.
The role may occasionally require lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling operational items up to 50 lbs, with assistance where appropriate.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Pay, training and benefits
$65,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
This is a full-time, at-will role connected to the DARKFIELD Las Vegas season, with potential for extension or future touring opportunities. Paid training is provided.
Benefits and perks include complimentary and discounted tickets, a supportive team environment, and priority consideration for future DARKFIELD seasons and Realscape Productions tours. Paid leave and other benefits will be provided where required by applicable law.
Belonging
DARKFIELD is for everyone, and so is our team. We welcome applicants of every background, and we hire for attitude and potential, not just a checklist. If you are excited about this role but do not match every point, please apply anyway.
Realscape Productions LLC is an equal-opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other protected status under applicable law.
How to apply
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant leadership, operations or guest-experience background, and why you would like to join DARKFIELD Las Vegas.
After you apply, we'll be in touch. The process will usually include a short phone chat followed by an in-person interview at AREA15. If you need any adjustment to take part in the process, tell us and we'll do our best to support you.
